How to Play

Getting Started: Tap "BEGIN COSMIC JOURNEY" on the intro screen. Read the full instructions panel which explains all actions and the planetary governance system.

Core Actions (bottom dialogue panel):

• CONTEMPLATE — Triggers a 4-round internal debate between your liberal and traditional selves. Arguments appear one at a time with 2.5 seconds between each, building a complete philosophical exchange on topics like justice, individual vs. community, progress, authority, human nature, and meaning.
• CREATE — Manually birth a new philosophical world or cosmic entity (lifeform or civilization). The astronaut also creates autonomously over time.
• QUESTION EXISTENCE — Receive an extended alien transmission. Each of the 12 species delivers a full philosophical meditation from their radically non-human perspective.
• EXTREMISM WARNING — Trigger a cosmic disaster. One of your worlds is destroyed with a full explosion animation, followed by a detailed modal explaining the extremist event narrative and the philosophical lesson about ideological balance.
• COLONIZE WITH MY MIND — Enter colonization mode (15-second window). Click any uncolonized planet to send settlers and begin a philosophical civilization.

Planet Interaction:

• Click any planet on the canvas to open the Planet Details panel (bottom-right)
• Each of the 20 philosophical traditions has a unique animated visual pattern:
  • Veil of ignorance particles (Rawls), shifting identity colors (Butler), overlapping liberty circles (Berlin), golden ratio spirals (Aristotle/Scruton), yin-yang rotation (Taoism), ascending energy (Nietzsche), sacred triangles (Guénon), hierarchical pyramids (Evola), community node networks (Nisbet), and more
• The [×] button closes the panel

Governance System (colonized planets):

• After colonizing a planet, click it to access the full governance interface
• Stats tracked: Population, Stability (0-100%), Prosperity (0-100%)
• Decisions appear every 30 seconds after 20 seconds of colony age
  • Each decision presents a real philosophical dilemma tied to the planet's founding thinker
  • Option A generally favors the planet's core philosophy (increases stability)
  • Option B generally favors pragmatic/economic outcomes (increases prosperity)
  • Each choice is tagged as "good" or "bad" for the planet's philosophical integrity
• Citizen Interviews: Click "INQUIRE WITH CITIZEN" to generate a randomized citizen profile with:
  • Name and occupation (occupation reflects civilization stage)
  • Personal thoughts (reflect current stability level)
  • Focus area (tied to ideology)
  • Government opinion (reflects recent decision quality)
• Consequences:
  • 3+ bad decisions within 2 minutes triggers a governance crisis (-20 stability)
  • Stability below 10% triggers total planetary collapse
  • Planets with 80%+ in BOTH prosperity and stability count toward cosmic level advancement

Civilization Stages (progress automatically in real time):

• Settlement (0-40 seconds) — Initial community forms
• Growth (40-60 seconds) — Population doubles, institutions develop
• Maturity (60-80 seconds) — Complex systems emerge
• Transcendence (80+ seconds) — Highest level, unique visual effects

Cosmic Level Progression:

• AWAKENING → ENLIGHTENED → TRANSCENDENT → OMNISCIENT → COSMIC SAGE → REALITY WEAVER → UNIVERSE SHEPHERD → CONSCIOUSNESS ITSELF → THE ETERNAL QUESTIONER
• Each level requires one additional planet achieving 80%+ in both prosperity and stability

Interface Tips:

• [−] button minimizes the dialogue panel for pure visual meditation
• Creation Log (top-right) shows a live feed of all events, limited to 20 entries
• Status Panel (top-left) shows depth, creation count, liberal/traditional world counts, and cosmic level
• On mobile, scroll within panels to access all governance options and citizen interviews
• The astronaut floats autonomously and creates on its own — you don't need to do anything to populate the universe, but manual actions give you more control
